Miejska i Powiatowa Biblioteka Publiczna w Będzinie jest główną biblioteką miasta i powiatu. Zapewnia obsługę biblioteczną mieszkańców, służy rozwojowi i zaspokajaniu potrzeb czytelniczych i informacyjnych, upowszechnianiu wiedzy i nauki, dba o sprawne funkcjonowanie sieci bibliotecznej i systemu informacyjnego.

Dyrektorem jest Bożena Staszewska.

Biblioteka gromadzi zbiory uniwersalne ze wszystkich dziedzin wiedzy. Poziom kompletności w każdej z dziedzin uzależniony jest od potrzeb środowiska. Wraz ze wzrostem ilości osób uczących się, zmieniajacych lub podwyższających swoje wykształcenie, zmienia się także profil gromadzonych zbiorów. Więcej nabywa się literatury popularnonaukowej i naukowej z takich dziedzin jak: ekonomia, historia informatyka, pedagogika, prawo, psychologia, socjologia i zarządzanie.

W MiPBP mieści się także “Bank podręczników” Stowarzyszenia Dzieciom Będzina.
